New Video: "Dead Horse (Apologies to Emma Lazarus)"

 

Inspired by the Emma Lazarus poem "New Colossus" on the Statue of Liberty, and dedicated to people all over the U.S. standing up to the cruelty of ICE and the fascism of Trump, “Dead Horse (Apologies to Emma Lazarus)" delivers a fierce, impassioned Good Morning America report to meet the intensity of our times. 

Our first official video in four years, "Dead Horse" pays homage to people who lost their lives at the hands of ICE -- either by gunfire or due to ICE / border patrol actions in the field -- since Trump began his 2nd term as president (it's all in the video, created by Minneapolis rocker-activist Christy Costello). We finished the video at the end of February, and released it April 21st. 

Since we finished the video, four more people have been killed by federal immigration police, either due to border patrol negligence or ICE gunfire. Today is July 15, 2026. It is heart-sickening to again be adding to this list, not knowing when it will end, or whether killing just encourages Trump and his gestapo to do more killing, to be more cruel.

Nural Amin Shah Alam, 56, Buffalo NY, found dead on 02/24.

Daphy Michel, 31, Pittsburgh PA, found dead on 03/02.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, Houston TX, shot and killed 07/06.

Joan Sebastian Guererro, 26, Biddeford Maine, shot and killed 07/F13.

"Dead Horse (Apologies to Emma Lazarus)" was the first single taken from the album Monsters, released June 4, 2026. Proceeds from album sales are going to support Voces de la Frontera, a mutual aid network for immigrants in Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin, and to NE Neighbors Mutual Aid Fund of Minneapolis.
